CHHSM 2018 Annual Report Reflects Unique Ways Members Work Together in Ministry to Create a Just, Caring, and Compassionate World for All

The UCC’s Council for Health and Human Service Ministries today (Aug. 6) released its 2018 Annual Report, Together in Ministry. Available online, the report offers a combination of facts, financial data, and stories that paint a broad picture of the many ways CHHSM members across the country are engaged in inspirational and life-changing health and human service work.

“In our Annual Report, you will feel the dynamic and vital presence of our member ministries as you see them working together, sharing resources, and realizing their vision of service,” says the Rev. Kenneth V. Daniel, outgoing Board chair. “The health and human service work of our church is robust and meaningful.”

Sandwiched in-between the Annual Report’s “facts and figures” sections are a series of compelling videos created by graduates of the most recent Nollau Leadership Institute, one of CHHSM’s flagship programs. Nollau helps church leaders discern their call as serving leaders of the church and what that means for their ministry and their lives. Graduates are commissioned as Diakonal Ministers. In the videos, the 2018-2019 Nollau graduates share their most meaningful stories from their year-long class experiences.

The report also includes an overview of its advocacy focus, including the main advocacy projects of the past year, as well as CHHSM members’ participation in the UCC’s 3 Great Loves initiative.

Readinger, CHHSM president and CEO. “CHHSM members’ various expressions of the church are historical in origin, progressive in their ability to heal, and faithful in their commitment to the millions of clients, residents, and patients they serve.”
