Thrash-Sall Welcomed as Horizon House CEO
Horizon House, based in Seattle, recently welcomed Erica Thrash-Sall as its new CEO, succeeding Mike Ostrem, who retired July 31 after 10 years of outstanding service.
Thrash-Sall brings deep experience with senior living communities, most recently as executive director of Presbyterian Villages in Michigan.
“Erica brings over 15 years of strategic leadership with a dedication to improving the lives and independence of senior adults,” said Horizon House Board of Trustees President Mike Mecham. “She is well-positioned to lead Horizon House into the future.”
A leader in the effort to diversify the field of aging services, Thrash-Sall was the 2021 recipient of the Robert Woods Johnson Award for Health Equity. She is a JEDI practitioner (justice, equity, diversity, inclusion) who establishes a vision that inspires staff and residents through engagement and empowerment.
“I believe that it’s a senior community’s purpose to help residents actualize whatever living their best lives means to them,” said Thrash-Sall. “I see so much evidence of that at Horizon House.”
Thrash-Sall holds a B.A. degree in history from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C., and an MBA degree from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Mich.
