Reyes Named Interim President and CEO of Pension Boards UCC

The Rev. Dr. Rodney Franklin, chair, Pension Boards UCC board of trustees, announced today that Walter Reyes, the Pension Boards executive vice president and chief administrative officer, has been appointed interim president and CEO. The move follows Brian Bodager’s decision to step down from his role as president and CEO. Bodager, who led the Pension Boards since 2015, stepped down Feb. 1, 2025.
“Brian has expressed to the Board his need to focus on his health at this time. We are deeply grateful for Brian’s outstanding contributions over the past decade,” said Franklin in an email announcement. “Under his leadership, the Pension Boards has undergone a remarkable transformation — we are better serving the needs of our constituents and positioning the organization for future growth that creates a more sustainable future for people of call, and in turn, the communities and congregations they lead.”
“We invite you to lift up the Bodager family in your prayers,” Franklin added, “offering strength and peace to his family during this time of transition.
Currently the board search committee is conducting an executive search for the new president and CEO. Franklin expressed confidence in Reyes’ appointment during the interim period. “Walter has been a steady presence on our executive leadership team for more than five years and is deeply committed to our mission,” Franklin said. “As the son of pastors, he both understands firsthand and cares profoundly about the importance of our organization’s missional commitment to the UCC community. I believe he will carry out his interim duties in the spirit of supporting our community.
“We are confident that Walter’s leadership will provide continuity and stability as the Search Committee advances its work to identify and secure a suitable candidate for the role of President and CEO.”
