Plymouth Place Senior Living Names New CEO
Plymouth Place Senior Living has announced the appointment of James (Jay) Biere as the new chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1, 2018.
With background in business growth, customer service and creative solutions, Biere brings extensive experience in senior living with more than 15 years in leadership positions. He was most recently president and CEO of Meadows Communities in Normal, Ill., overseeing strategic planning, operations, capital strategies and board development.
“I’m delighted and honored to be a part of the Plymouth Place family and to have the opportunity to serve and lead at such a premier community,” Biere said. “I look forward to partnering with the staff, leaders and our board to serve the community of residents and deliver the very best service, care and support that honors the legacy of Plymouth Place. There are many exciting opportunities ahead.”
Biere helped Meadows transition through major infrastructure upgrades, including a new IT platform and service expansion. He launched an ambassador program to increase employee and resident satisfaction, and Biere implemented a Q.A.P.I. process to improve quality outcomes in clinical and support service areas.
“We are very fortunate to have someone of Jay’s caliber to lead our organization into the future,” said Mark Cloghessy, Plymouth Place’s chairman of the board. “He has the right experience and leadership skills to help us live into our commitment serve seniors in our community.”
Before his tenure at Meadows, Biere served in senior leadership roles at Kisco Senior Living, Lifespace Communities and Vibrant Living Communities. He started his career with ServiceMaster Management Services.
Biere grew up on a farm in Volo, Ill., before receiving a marketing degree from Northern Illinois University. He has remained in the northern Illinois area for most of his adult life. In addition to spending time with his four sons and seven grandchildren, Biere enjoys golf, biking, hiking, and travel. He has served in leadership roles at faith-based ministries and supports a variety of non-profit organizations as a volunteer.
