Embrace Living Communities Named a 2020 Best Workplace for Aging Services
Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE have named Embrace Living Communities as one of the 2020 Best Workplaces for Aging Services. The ranking considered feedback representing 189,159 employees working for Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations in Senior Housing & Care and At-Home Care in the Aging Services industry.
For the third year in a row, Embrace Living, which operates 33 communities across Illinois, Missouri and Florida, was ranked in the top 10 of all small and medium senior housing and care employers.
“This honor is a testament to our 145 employees and the unconditional care they give to more than 2,000 residents each and every day,” says Ralph Gaines, CEO of Embrace Living. “It is their compassion and support for one another that allows us to move forward and fulfill our mission to provide actively aging adults affordable, welcoming homes in communities that embrace living.”
Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, evaluated more than 60 elements of team members’ experience on the job. These included the extent to which employees trust leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions, and how much camaraderie there is among the team.
Of the Embrace Living employees surveyed, more than 90 percent said that the organization is a great place to work compared to 59 percent of employees at a typical U.S.-based company. Employees were especially positive about their sense of pride, flexibility in scheduling and the welcoming feel of Embrace Living.
“The value of creating great workplaces for all is a clear competitive edge in the Aging Services sector,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “When organizations like Embrace Living treat their own people with care and respect, you can expect their staff to treat your loved ones with that same care.”
“The effect of engaged employees has magnified in the aging sector, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Jacquelyn Kung, CEO of Activated Insights, the senior care company of Great Place to Work. “We have found that organizations that have maintained or increased employee engagement during this year’s challenges have been able to be more resilient, provide enhanced care, and perform better.”
“I couldn’t be more proud of the team’s dedication and success in handling the crisis, which they continue to do today,” says Gaines. “The people they care for are like extended family to them, and we want to do all we can to protect them and fulfill our promise of providing faith-based communities that enrich their living experience.”
The Best Workplaces for Aging Services™ is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations.
