Embrace Living Communities Named a Top Best Workplace for Aging Services in Fortune Magazine Poll
For the fifth year in a row, Great Place to Work® has named Embrace Living Communities, based in Oak Brook, Ill., as one of the best workplaces in the country. Embrace Living ranked sixth in the “senior housing — small-medium” category by Fortune Magazine. The ranking is based on survey taken by Embrace Living employees in which 85 percent said that Embrace Living was a great place to work, compared to 57 percent of employees at a “typical company.”
“It’s a special culture that dedicates itself every day to a mission that ensures a life of dignity and community for very low-income seniors and people with disabilities,” said Chief Executive Officer Ralph Gaines.
In the survey, 96 percent of employees said that they feel a sense of pride when they look at what they accomplish through Embrace Living, 94 responded that they feel they make a difference, and 94 percent said their work is more than “just a job” but has special meaning to them.
One employee had this to say about working at Embrace Living: “I was immediately welcomed by the building manager and staff from other sites. The support from corporate and other staff in the same position helped create a feeling of inclusion, building confidence, acceptance and an overall feeling of belonging. There’s also an enthusiasm to learn more, so I can be and do more.”
Among the other responses employees gave regarding Embrace Living as a workplace, “people” and “team” were among the most used words, reflecting a commitment to not only the residents but also employees’ fellow teammates who also work toward accomplishing Embrace Living’s mission to help residents age with dignity.
“We’re honored that Fortune has recognized our efforts and named us on the list and thank all of our team members for their commitment and dedication,” said Gaines.
