Enrollment Open for 2019-2020 Nollau Leadership Institute
The UCC’s Council for Health and Human Service Ministries announced today (Jan. 4) that enrollment for the 2019-2020 Nollau Leadership Institute is now open.
The Nollau Institute is a year-long program that focuses on spiritual formation and preparation for servant leadership. During the year, class members discern their call as Diakonal Ministers. A special vocation for servant leaders within CHHSM and the United Church of Christ, Diakonal Ministers advance the healing and service ministry of Jesus Christ. Since 1996, more than 150 CHHSM leaders have been consecrated as Diakonal Ministers, part of the more than 250 consecrated from all denominations.
“The Nollau Leadership Institute is CHHSM’s signature program, with more than 250 attendees in its 20+ years,” says Michael J. Readinger, CHHSM president and CEO. “Each year, the Nollau faculty members take great care to update the topics covered, taking guidance from our outgoing class and CHHSM’s Diakonal Minister community.”
The new class begins in April 2019 and concludes at the CHHSM Annual Gathering in March 2020. There are three in-person retreats with monthly small-group calls in between. Class members will be consecrated as Diakonal Ministers at the 2020 CHHSM Annual Gathering’s closing worship. The CHHSM Annual Gathering takes place March 3-5, 2020.
Retreat Dates for the upcoming class are April 30- May 2, 2019; Sept. 17-19, 2019; and Jan. 27-30, 2020. All retreats are located at the Cedar Valley Retreat Center in West Bend, Wis.
Space is limited to 21 students, so early applications are strongly encouraged. The application is available online.
