Hoyleton’s New Construction to Increase Resident Care and Treatment Options
Construction on new facilities at Hoyleton Youth & Family Services in Fairview Heights, Ill., currently is in progress. The official groundbreaking took place July 27, 2023. Phase 1 of the project — six 3,700-square-foot residential cottages — is scheduled to be completed by early spring. Following completion, youth residents will be moved into their new homes one cottage at a time. Each cottage has six bedrooms, so each child has their own room and two shared bathrooms. Other features in the homes include shared living rooms, kitchen and dining rooms, laundry rooms and storage space.
Once all youth are moved in to the new housing, the previous cottages will be torn down. This will clear the way for Phase 2 of the project, which will include a new courtyard and administration building. The cottages were built in a semi-circle, which will frame the courtyard. The 14,700-square-foot administration building will be erected in front of the courtyard. Expected completion of this phase is summer 2024.
Opportunities to highlight the rich history of Hoyleton Youth & Family Services will be recognized with tributes on the new campus. Several ideas and plans for this are still being evaluated.
Upon completion of the campus construction projects, Hoyleton will on an additional residential campus in the Metro East. As a leader in care for the developmentally and intellectually delayed youth, the new facility will increase Hoyleton’s capacity to allow for additional treatment options. Funding for both construction projects are a blend of private donors and state and federal grants.
