Murner Named Executive Director of United Church of Christ’s Uplands Village

Herschel Murner, new executive director of the UCC’s Uplands Village in Pleasant Hill, Tenn.

United Church Homes Management (UCHM) and the Board of Directors of Uplands Village are pleased to announce Herschel Murner has been selected as the new executive director of Uplands Village.

Murner brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Uplands Village after having previously served in the information technology department and as chief operating officer. Murner provides leadership and direction to the management and operations of Uplands Village, a nonprofit life plan community in Pleasant Hill, Tenn.

“I am both honored and excited for the opportunity to continue the lasting journey with Uplands Village,” Murner said.

Since joining Uplands Village in 2013, Murner has gained a great deal of knowledge concerning the operation of the community, and he has served in a wide-ranging leadership role at Uplands Village. Additionally, Murner is aligned with the vision for Uplands Village and has the skills to advance the mission of the community.

“Uplands Village is fortunate to have a person with the knowledge, experience and skills that Herschel brings to the position of executive director,” said Christine Stinson, Uplands Village Board of Directors chair. “His dedication to the residents and staff of Uplands cannot be overstated and his assuming the leadership role is welcomed by all.”

A resident of Crossville for more than 20 years, Murner has a keen understanding of the broader Cumberland County community and the role Uplands Village plays on the plateau. Murner holds a B.S. degree in health informatics from King University and currently is working toward a Master of Science degree.

“For the past five years, Herschel has gained a great deal of knowledge concerning the operation of the community, having served in a wide-ranging leadership role at Uplands Village,” said David Zack, interim executive director and United Church Homes senior living director of operations. “Additionally, Herschel is much aligned with the vision for Uplands Village, and has the skills to advance the mission of the community.”
