Prairie Village Retirement Community Expanding in Whitewater, Wisconsin

Jim Caldwell, Chairman of the Fairhaven Board of Directors, was pleased to announce the expansion of Fairhaven’s Prairie Village development on the north side of Whitewater, Wisconsin.

The growing demand for homes for senior adults and the expanding population at Prairie Village have created the need to complete the planned infrastructure and roadways.  RR Walton and Company Ltd. was named as the General Contractor for the project and will begin work this fall with completion scheduled for the spring/summer of 2017. This expansion will accommodate 46 new homes for those 55 and older and continue the ministry of Fairhaven in Whitewater.

Fairhaven President/CEO Paul Kuenning welcomed those in attendance that included Fairhaven Board members, Whitewater City officials, and residents of Prairie Village and the community at large.

The Rev. Carrol Olm, the Founding Director of Fairhaven, opened the groundbreaking celebration in prayer. Caldwell remarked that the development would eventually add 12 to 14 million dollars of value to the community.

Whitewater City Manager Cameron Clapper noted that the city was very supportive of the development and acknowledged that the Prairie Village mission, from its founding philosophy, was designed to be an integral part of the community.

Retired Fairhaven Executive Director, the Rev. David Yochum, who was instrumental in the conception and development of Prairie Village, gave a brief history of how Prairie Village came into being.  He also emphasized the Fairhaven Mission Statement saying “Fairhaven is a visible ministry of God’s love to older men and women. Its primary mission is to provide housing and health services which promote dignity and well-being with spiritual, intellectual, cultural and recreational vitality.”

Paul Kuenning stated that as we celebrate this expansion we are also planning for the addition of a Community Center and a building and grounds building at Prairie Village, and we are already envisioning and planning for a new nursing facility.
