Ribbon-Cutting Marks Opening of Lake Prince Woods’ Wellness Center
Lake Prince Woods, an EveryAge continuing care retirement community in Suffolk, Va., hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony April 18 to premiere its new Wellness Center.
The Wellness Center is made possible by the success of a Mind, Body, Spirit capital campaign created by the EveryAge Foundation and Lake Prince Woods. The campaign raised $1,467,047 to update wellness-enhancing amenities and to provide for future memory care enhancements on campus. The groundbreaking for the $13.5 million Wellness Center took place in September 2022, which commemorated the date of Lake Prince Woods’ original opening in 2002.
The completed Wellness Center features:
- Fitness areas for cardio, strength training, and classes such as yoga and aerobics
- Art studio and classroom space
- Additional spaces to gather with the community for bridge, Bible study, book clubs, and more
- Salon
- Gift shop
In conjunction with the project, Lake Prince Woods’ Commons area was renovated to integrate the Wellness Center into existing structures and to enhance resident amenities. The Commons now features:
- An upgraded main auditorium/gathering space with improved audiovisual capabilities
- A pub-style billiards room and lounge
- Improved wayfinding signage and increased covered space at the entrance and between buildings
“The prospect of having a Wellness Center has energized our residents for years, and to be at that point where the dreams are almost reality is beyond satisfying,” said Lake Prince Woods’ executive director Judy Raymond prior to the ceremony. “This new addition to the campus will change the way our community functions. The Wellness Center will serve as a crossroads for our residents, and activities and programs will have a new home where people can gather and socialize with more options and more ease. The Lake Prince lifestyle becomes even more dynamic with its debut.”
Lee Syria, EveryAge president and CEO, concurred. “As the capital campaign confirmed, the intersection of mind, body, and spirit is an essential need for well-being. Through their generous support, residents of Lake Prince Woods and other donors were clear that a Wellness Center is indispensable for quality of life and to undergird the continuum of care that’s already in place,” she said. “EveryAge wholeheartedly subscribes to well-being through physical activity, social engagement, mental stimulation, and spiritual growth, and we are proud to help make this project possible for Lake Prince Woods.”
