United Church Homes acquires Polaris Retirement Community in Columbus, Ohio
United Church Homes, Inc. (UCH) yesterday (July 28) acquired The Polaris Retirement Community from Polaris Retirement Living Properties, LP. The independent senior living community for those 55 and older has 136 one- and two-bedroom apartments and was developed in collaboration with Pittsburgh-based Graziano Construction and Development Company, Inc., and Sweetbay Senior Living.
The property is located at 9180 Antares Avenue north of Columbus, and will operate under the name United Church Homes, The Polaris Community. The community is pre-leasing now. Applications are being accepted online at www.polariscommunity.org or at 844-415-3065.
United Church Homes, The Polaris Community will be UCH’s first senior independent living community in central Ohio with a unique menu of services focusing on community, connection, and well being.
“Completing the financing and acquisition of this new senior living community is a significant milestone in our strategic plan to expand senior living options for older adults in central Ohio,” said the Rev. Kenneth V. Daniel, president and CEO of United Church Homes. “We are excited that we’ve received the Certificate of Occupancy. Our staff is in place and ready to pre-lease apartments.”
UCH is now putting the finishing touches on apartments and common areas, and anticipates being ready for move ins early this fall.
UCH also operates Columbus Colony for Elderly Care in Westerville, Ohio, specializing in short-term and long-term skilled care services. It is also one of only three such communities in the nation serving the long-term care needs of deaf, and deaf/blind older adults. UCH owns three other independent senior living communities in central Ohio: Canal Village and David’s Way in Canal Winchester, and St. Michael’s Community in Delaware.
Based in Marion, Ohio, United Church Homes is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit providers of senior living and healthcare services for older adults, ranking as the 25th largest sponsor of market rate and affordable housing units on the 2020 LeadingAge Ziegler list of the 200 largest not-for-profit multi-site senior living organizations. United Church Homes operates 78 senior living communities in 14 states and on two Native American nations. As a faith-inspired, inclusive organization, United Church Homes maintains a covenant relationship with the United Church of Christ denomination, and embraces its mission of providing “radical hospitality.”
